Baltimore & The Beacon - can't go wrong with a pizza from La Jolie Brise after a brisk walk at the Beacon.
Knockdrum Fort & Castletownshend - The Fort offers 360 degree views of Castlehaven and it is where the groom proposed to the bride. Castletownsend is a quaint and sleepy village with stunning views of the harbour from St. Barrahane’s Church at the bottom of the village. There is only one restaurant in the village, Mary Ann’s, but there’s always a warm welcome and the food is outstanding. Lill McCarthy’s pub is a mere stumble up the hill and great for a nightcap.
Toe Head & the Coastal Route - Known locally as “a spin around the coast”, this drive takes in Toe Head, which is part of the Wild Atlantic Way. Off of Toe Head you will see the Stags and if you’re lucky a local tour guide will take you to see Mise Éire “I am Ireland”, built in 1942-43 to declare our neutrality in WWII.
Mizen Head, Barleycove & Crookhaven - Mizen Head is Ireland’s most south-westerly point (next stop America!). The Arched Bridge connects the island to the mainland and it doesn’t get more rural on this rugged terrain. Barleycove and the surrounding headland is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland. And if you want to try some of the local seafood then Billy O’Sullivan’s pub in Crookhaven is the place for you.
